The 2013 Assault Weapons Ban

Filed under: Gun Rights — hdls @ 2:50 am

A good video that describes what is in Feinstein’s Assault Weapons ban. It isn’t limited to Evil Black Rifles – she wants your shotguns and pistols as well.

Every woman should have a CPL

This is why.

“Thing is, he’s going to kill me.”

“Have you gone to the police?”

“Yes, of course I have.”

“And what happened?”

She shakes her head from side to side, wraps spindly arms protectively around her chest.

“I got a restraining order against Ned — that’s my ex. But you know what good that is, don’t you?”

“Tell me.”

She inscribes a big zero in the air.

Even if you don’t own a gun, get a CPL. Even if you think you’ll never need a gun, get a CPL. Even if you hate guns, get a CPL.

In my state, if a woman has a CPL she can walk into a gun store and walk out with a pistol the same day. I suspect “waiting periods” have killed more women than they have saved.

What now? Write, call, show up

What he said.

We are in for the fight of our lives in the near future. There is an emotional wave right now that our opponents are using to push for gun control laws (none of which have ever stopped a single shooting) and emotion is a powerful, powerful tool. If we, as law abiding gun owners, do not contact our representatives immediately and start reminding them that the estimated 80,000,000 gun owners are not the problem, we will be fully responsible for whatever laws come down.

I wrote my representatives already with the following letter, feel free to modify it to better represent yourself if you like, but for God’s sake, start writing them today. Then, call their offices to follow up. If you can, show up for a face to face meeting.

Three arguments for gun rights

Filed under: Gun Rights — hdls @ 1:56 am

President Obama wants to “have a conversation” about gun control. Whether we want to or not, we – as gun rights advocates – must engage in this conversation. We need to active participants in this conversation. We must be willing, and eager, to have this conversation.

Folks, this is our chance to change minds. This is our change to make this the last stand for the gun control advocates.

As we advocate for gun rights we need to reach out to our the folks around us on this issue. We need to reach out and connect with them in a way that is persuasive and personal. We need to reach people where they are at. If a person is having a strong, emotional response that leads them to support gun control all the facts in the world isn’t going to change their mind. Connecting with them on an emotion level just might.

With that introduction out of the way here are three good arguments in favor of gun rights.

If you find blog posts, articles, comments, whatever that are effective in advancing the cause of gun rights please send them to me.

Off-duty policewoman uses her gun to stop a mass shooting at a theater

Filed under: Gun Rights,Self Defense — hdls @ 10:24 pm

If you want to stop an active shooter, you need to confront them with an armed response. That works. Nothing else does.

Story from WOAI News.

Excerpt:

Two people are hospitalized after a gunman chased terrified restaurant patrons into the lobby of the Santikos Mayan 14 movie theater during a showing of “The Hobbit” last night, 1200 WOAI news reports.

Police detectives and sheriff’s investigators say the incident started in the China Garden Restaurant on Southwest Military Drive about 9 PM Sunday, when an employee of the restaurant walked in looking for a woman.

When the woman, who officials say is also a restaurant employee, wasn’t there, the man pulled a gun and attempted to open fire in the restaurant but his weapon jammed.

“It started at the restaurant and then went into the parking lot and then into the movie theater,” Deputy Lou Antu told 1200 WOAI news.

Investigators say some of the terrified restaurant patrons poured into the movie theater, and the gunman followed.

He opened fire, shooting one…

Larry Correia on gun control and mass shootings

Filed under: Gun Rights — hdls @ 10:18 pm

Read the whole thing. I had to quote his section on gun free zones – it was too good not to share.

Gun Free Zones

Gun Free Zones are hunting preserves for innocent people. Period.

Think about it. You are a violent, homicidal madman, looking to make a statement and hoping to go from disaffected loser to most famous person in the world. The best way to accomplish your goals is to kill a whole bunch of people. So where’s the best place to go shoot all these people? Obviously, it is someplace where nobody can shoot back.

In all honesty I have no respect for anybody who believes Gun Free Zones actually work. You are going to commit several hundred felonies, up to and including mass murder, and you are going to refrain because there is a sign? That No Guns Allowed sign is not a cross that wards off vampires. It is wishful thinking, and really pathetic wishful thinking at that.

The only people who obey No Guns signs are people who obey the law. People who obey the law aren’t going on rampages.

I testified before the Utah State Legislature about the University of Utah’s gun ban the day after the Trolley Square shooting in Salt Lake City. Another disaffected loser scumbag started shooting up this mall. He killed several innocent people before he was engaged by an off duty police officer who just happened to be there shopping. The off duty Ogden cop pinned down the shooter until two officers from the SLCPD came up from behind and killed the shooter. (turned out one of them was a customer of mine) I sent one of my employees down to Trolley Square to take a picture of the shopping center’s front doors. I then showed the picture to the legislators. One of the rules was NO GUNS ALLOWED.

The man that attacked the midnight showing of Batman didn’t attack just any theater. There were like ten to choose from. He didn’t attack the closest. It wasn’t about biggest or smallest. He attacked the one that was posted NO GUNS ALLOWED.

There were four mass killing attempts this week. Only one made the news because it helped the agreed upon media narrative.

  1. Oregon. NOT a gun free zone. Shooter confronted by permit holder. Shooter commits suicide. Only a few casualties.
  2. Texas. NOT a gun free zone. Shooter killed immediately by off duty cop. Only a few casualties.
  3. Connecticut. GUN FREE ZONE. Shooters kills until the police arrive. Suicide. 26 dead.
  4. China. GUN FREE COUNTRY. A guy with a KNIFE stabs 22 children.

And here is the nail in the coffin for Gun Free Zones. Over the last fifty years, with only one single exception (Gabby Giffords), every single mass shooting event with more than four casualties has taken place in a place where guns were supposedly not allowed.

Woman shoots man who broke into her house and tried to stab her

Filed under: Self Defense — hdls @ 8:16 pm

WINTERY KNIGHT

Oh, here’s a story from the Philadelphia Daily News that won’t get national media attention and crocodile tears from Obama.

Excerpt:

A 17-year-old learned the hard way that breaking into houses is a pretty bad idea after police say a woman he attempted to stab during a home-invasion in Northeast Philadelphia shot him early Saturday morning.

Cops said the teen was one of about 10 men who kicked in the door of a house on Greenmount Road near Millbrook shortly after midnight Saturday and started fighting with two men, ages 26 and 42, who were inside. During that fight, one of the thugs threw a 40-ounce beer bottle and hit a 49-year-old woman who was also in the house at the time in the stomach.

Police said the 17-year-old who was shot during the melee went after that woman with a knife, so she pulled out a gun and shot…
